We have developed a new platform for drug optimization that uses bacteria in addition to traditional chemical transformations. This allows us to introduce sites for analog synthesis that aren’t accessible using traditional synthetic chemistry.

Biocatalytic drug optimization can be used to improve poor drug pharmacokinetics, one of major challenges in transforming a pharmacological tool to a drug candidate. This is accomplished by metabolic mapping followed metabolic blocking.

An additional advantage of this technology is that new IP is readily generated because compounds are generated that difficult to make using traditional chemistry.
